If you’re one of the hundreds of people who missed out on registering for the now-sold-out Army Ten-Miler, here’s your second chance.
Event officials have announced that from June 1 through August 31, runners may enter the popular October race through its online transfer program. Each year the event allows runners to transfer their bib to someone else if for some reason they cannot participate. Approximately 1,200 transfers are made every year, according to officials.
How does it work? A registered runner can sell his or her registration to a new participant through the race website. A discussion board is available for buyers and sellers to connect. Buyers must refund the seller and pay a $25 administrative fee. Sellers can also request a $55 transfer plus fee, or an $85 transfer plus fee and T-shirt upgrade.
This year, the 28th annual Army Ten-Miler will be held on Sunday, October 21. It’s the third largest ten-mile race in the world and brings more than 30,000 military and civilian runners to the Washington each year. Race proceeds benefit Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation.
