Monday, June 18

FILM: One of the country’s best documentary film festivals takes place right here in Washington, and it kicks off tonight.
Silverdocs will run through Sunday and features movies from more than 60 countries, including 14 Oscar-nominated films. Tonight’s big
film—Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey—is about Journey’s search for a new frontman, which took them all the way to Manila, Philippines. Advance tickets are sold
out, but call ahead and you might get lucky at the door. $12. 7 PM at AFI Silver.

COMEDY: If you can’t procure tickets for Silverdocs (don’t worry, there are more than 100 other film screenings this week), check
out comedian
Neil Hamburger at Black Cat’s backstage.
Hamburger is king among self-deprecating comics. But don’t feel too bad
for him; it’s just a character.
Tickets ($12) are available online. 8 PM.

Tuesday, June 19

WASHINGTONIAN HAPPY HOUR: Join
The Washingtonian’s fashion team and local designer
Rochelle Behrens at Johnny’s Half-Shell for a night of drinks and shopping. All clothes will be discounted 20 percent, and brand new shirts
from Rochelle’s collection will be on display. Free. 5 PM.

Wednesday, June 20

BEER DINNER: DC Brau’s
Brandon Skall and Clyde’s of Georgetown are
teaming up to offer a tasty menu featuring soft-shell crabs, pork loins,
half-smokes, and strawberry-hazelnut
shortcake, each paired with a different offering from the
brewery. Tickets ($55) are available online. 6 PM.

Thursday, June 21

BATTLE OF THE BAR EXAMS: Ever wonder if that lobbyist friend of yours has time for anything besides, you know, lobbying? It turns out many lawyers
play as hard as they work—but can they play well? Find out at Thursday’s
Battle of the Law Firm Bands at Black Cat, featuring 16 bands from the city’s biggest firms. Proceeds benefit a charity dedicated to helping the homeless.
$10 at the door. 7 PM.
