Best of Georgetown 2012: Great Georgetown Day Spas

In need of some pampering? Here's three places to go for facials, massages, and mani-pedis in Georgetown.

Massage

Tucked on the hotel’s lower level and with just four treatment rooms, the
Boutique Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown (3100 South St., NW; 202-912-4175) offers services that rival its much larger counterparts.
We turn to massage therapist Yanick Malone to heal our aches and pains. Choose a 25-,
50-, or 80-minute treatment ($75 to $250); some include add-ons such as scalp massages,
dry brushing to stimulate skin renewal (it feels like a great back scratch), or aromatherapy.
Afterward, unwind in the sauna and steam room or sip a glass of wine in the chic brick-walled
lobby, which has happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 6.

Facial

The white-on-green
Hela Spa (3209 M St., NW; 202-333-4445) offers treatments ranging from deep-cleansing facials
($70 to $130) to microdermabrasion ($220) and even wrinkle-reducers and fillers such
as Botox, Restylane, and Juvéderm. If you’re looking for a very customized treatment,
start with a Visia digital skin scan ($100), which shows a computerized image of how
your skin has been damaged by sun, oil, free radicals, and other factors. Therapists
use the results to help come up with a treatment regimen.

Mani-Pedi

Nectar Skin Bar (1633 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-4332) may be Georgetown’s best-kept secret, and
not just for its skin-care services. The stylish purple rowhouse boasts reasonable
prices for a spa ($25 for a classic manicure, $45 for shellac manicures, $45 to $75
for a pedicure), comfortable chairs, and such hard-to-find polishes as the organic
line Zoya and the trendy Butter London. Don’t miss the front retail space, which carries
celebrity-favorite product lines including FarmHouse Fresh and Darphin.
