Registration for the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon sold out in two hours and 27 minutes yesterday, complete with a site crash. If you were one of the many who missed out on getting into the race, fortunately you have some other options.

Register With Runner’s World
Runner’s World is offering a package for the Marine Corps Marathon that includes entry to the 2013 race, a shirt, book, training plans, and access to private forums and advice ($357). On race day you also receive major perks like a shakeout run with Bart Yasso and private pre- and post-race receptions. Spots are limited, so register quickly at the website.

Run With a Charity
Every year the Marine Corps Marathon raises more than $3 million toward various causes, thanks to its many charity partners. You can sign up with one of the organizations, some of which offer training and coaching, including Team in Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Rockville-based Team Fisher House, which raises money to support military families.

Snag a Bib This Summer
Eventually the Marine Corps Marathon will allow bib transfers, so hopefully you can snag an entry if for some reason someone else can’t run the race. This happens in the summer, so keep a lookout for the announcement.
