How we chose the festivals in our May issue:
When there are hundreds of festivals in the area, how did we pick these as ones not to miss? Easy—they’re the ones we’ve been to and liked. We also asked musicians, craftspeople, and others who frequent festivals to tell us their favorites.
Don’t see a big-name festival? In some cases, we gave space to lesser-known ones instead of events most people already are familiar with. Some happened prior to this issue—early-spring events such as the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Environmental Film Festival, and the Bethesda Literary Festival.
