Glen Burnie, Md.
It’s a Plane
BWI Trail
Distance: 10.1-mile loop.
A surprisingly wooded and quiet start in the hardwood forest of
Sawmill Creek Park may have riders thinking they’re nowhere near BWI
Thurgood Marshall Airport. Eventually the path leads through a grassy,
somewhat hilly landscape with a view of the runways. You can stop and
watch planes take off and land; keep an eye out for horses roaming in the
fields of a stable adjacent to the trail. Make it longer: A 1.2-mile spur
connects to the 13.3-mile Baltimore and Annapolis Trail for
those inclined to add some miles. For details, see the parks website.
