Are You Patriotic Enough to Party at George Washington’s Mansion?

Are You Patriotic Enough to Party at George Washington’s Mansion?

There’s no better place to celebrate Independence Day than at the home of our first president. This year, Mount Vernon will mark the holiday with two spectacular events: a stunning showcase of evening fireworks on July 2 and a day packed with patriotic fun on July 4.

Kick off the festive weekend with Independence Fireworks on Saturday, July 2—a new after-hours event featuring fireworks over the Potomac and live music on the Mansion’s piazza. You’ll have the unique opportunity to tour the Mansion at night, play bocce ball on the Bowling Green, and try 18th-century dancing in the Greenhouse. And of course, George and Martha Washington will be on hand to greet their guests.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children.

Purchase tickets to this event at the Mount Vernon website.

On Monday, July 4, the festivities continue with a unique display of daytime fireworks, Revolutionary War music and re-enactments, and free birthday cake for all (while supplies last). The day begins with “George Washington’s” inspection of the troops, followed by an inspirational ceremony to honor 100 of the newest citizens of the United States.

July 4 festivities are included with admission to the estate.

For a bargain, become a member of Mount Vernon to receive free, unlimited daytime admission (including access to the daytime July 4 celebration) and 10% off at Mount Vernon’s restaurant and gift shops.
