DC will have a restaurant dedicated to its signature dish when HalfSmoke opens in Shaw at 651 Florida Avenue, Northwest. The 100-seat eatery is the first for former investment analyst Andre McCain, and is scheduled for an August debut.

Veteran chef Bob Kinkead is consulting on the menu for the “modern day gourmet sausage restaurant,” which will be geared towards fast-casual service. An array of wood-grilled sausages, including the signature half-smoke–half pork, half beef–can be customized by guests. The menu will also offer classics like brats and Italians, vegetarian/vegan versions, and seasonal combinations like a summery andouille sausage topped with lobster and Creole mustard. Comfort dishes like tater tots, mac-and-cheese balls, and mini-funnel cakes round out the menu. The eatery will also open with a full 16-seat bar, with an emphasis on grilled cocktails like smoky peach sangria, over 20 brews, and wines.

Going along with the playful/Americana themes, the restaurant will also offer a variety of games, homes-style gas fireplaces, and televisions for catching sports.
