The Shaw Bijou has finally set an opening date. Kwame Onwuachi of recent Top Chef fame will debut his first restaurant on November 1 with a $185 tasting menu—an ambitious early venture for the 26 year-old chef, whose resume includes stints at high-profile spots in New York like Eleven Madison Park and Per Se. The 32-seat dining room is housed in a former Shaw rowhouse—owned by Kelly Gorsuch of Immortal Beloved salon—and will also play home to a second-floor bar only accessible to paying members.

Reservations go online on August 29, and follow a ticketed system similar to the one at Aaron Silverman’s tasting room, Pineapple & Pearls—minus the all-inclusive price tag. Patrons purchase online passes to the restaurant, which cover the cost of the 17-course menu. Beverage pairings from sommelier David Blackburn and barman Benjamin Long, tax, and tip aren’t included. The members-only club will open later (date TBD) with additional fees.*

The Shaw Bijou. 1544 Ninth St., NW. Open Tuesday through Saturday.
