Room 11 will no longer serve coffee, breakfast, and lunch on weekdays after December 31. Instead, the Columbia Heights hangout will go back to being an evening restaurant and wine bar (with weekend brunch, too).
The move comes as Paisley Fig—the restaurant’s in-house bakery—prepares to move into its own home in the former Heller’s Bakery space in Mount Pleasant. Construction began yesterday, and the place is slated to open next summer. Owners Lizzy Evelyn and her husband Nick Pimentel (also a partner in Bad Saint) will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the new 60-seat outpost with a 12-seat bar.
“It’s kind of like a giant Room 11,” Pimentel says.
Paisley Fig will serve Stumptown Coffee, cakes for pick-up, and bread baked fresh every day. They haven’t yet hired a chef to oversee the rest of the food menu.
Meanwhile, Paisley Fig’s scones and muffins will remain on Room 11’s brunch menu, and you’ll still find cheesecake or gourmet Taco Chocos for dessert. The new space will also have a kitchen devoted just to wholesale baking and will continue to sell products at local retailers like Dolcezza, Glen’s Garden Market, and Cork Market.
