Protesters Ask Obama to End Program They Fear Could Lead to Muslim Registry

Supporters and activists from diverse community groups came together in Washington Monday to ask president Obama to rescind the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, or NSEERs. The Bush-era program registers and tracks immigrants and visa holders from certain countries. Civil rights groups argue the program has proven ineffective and, although it’s been partially dismantled, could still provide the incoming administration with a framework for a Muslim registry.
