Ann: Good morning, chatters! What a gorgeous day, made even better by the slice of Red Truck Bakery rum cake in front of me. Is there a better way to ease into Friday than booze and cake? Top it, I dare you.

I’ve spent the last week running around checking out loose-end possibilities for our Cheap Eats issue—I might as well have just gotten a hotel room in Rockville for the week. Not all of these will necessarily make the list, which comes out in the August issue, but here are some scouting highlights:

*The massive Identity Crisis sandwich from Corned Beef King, the gas station deli in Rockville. Can’t decide between pastrami or corned beef? Slaw or kraut? This pile-up, also slathered in Russian dressing, is for you.

*Peruvian chicken from Sardi’s in Gaithersburg. How are these babies never, ever dry? Answer: there’s always a line, so they’re never sitting around for too long.

*Beijing soy sauce noodles from China Bistro in Rockville. This joint is (rightfully) known for their dumplings, which you should absolutely get. But I’ll be adding these chewy noodles, simply sauced with chili oil, sweet soy, and plenty of garlic, to my order from here on out, too.

Anyhoo, onto your questions! Ask them in the form below; the chat transcript shows up underneath.
