WAX FIGURES: The Fab Four are getting their very own wax figures at Madame Tussauds, but before that, they’ll be going on tour at the Mansion on O Street. That gives you a good reason to check out the old house, which features 100 rooms and 32 secret doors. Today only, Beatles memorabilia and tchotchkes will be spread throughout the mansion for you to check out, and drinks and appetizers will be available. Free. 6 PM.
MOVIE: After another year of will they, won’t they (they always will), Screen on the Green makes its triumphant return to the Mall. Grab some bags of Reeses’ Pieces and check out E.T. on the huge 20-by-40-foot screen. Free. 8:30 PM.

PETS: Grab your pup and celebrate the launch of our pets issue at Clarendon’s Lyon Hall for Yappy Hour. Admission includes a cocktail and some of the restaurant’s great appetizers, but you’re not the only one who gets something: There’ll be dog treats and puppy gift bags for your best friend. Tickets ($10) are available online. 6 PM.

PIRATES: Everyone knows Blackbeard and all those swashbucklers were terrible drunks, but what did they actually drink (besides rum with a bunch of Xes on the bottle)? Find out with Heavy Seas and National Geographic for the awesomely named Beer Tasting and Brewing in the Age of Pirates. Beer historian Richard Wagner will demonstrate some old-school brewing techniques, Heavy Seas will serve some of its more modern offerings, and you get access to Nat Geo’s “Real Pirates” exhibit. And what’s a pirate beer night without some sea shanties? Tickets ($40) are available online. 5 PM.
TOP CHEF: DC chef Richard Sandoval is in this season’s Top Chef Masters, and he’s celebrating with watch parties at his sister restaurants—which means $5 margs at El Centro D.F., Masa 14, and Zengo. The show premieres at 10 PM, but the drink specials start at 5 and run all night. Free.

SPACE: More than a half century ago, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit the world. Celebrate ol’ Yuri’s life (we can do that now, because America handily won the space race after that) at the Smithsonian’s S. Dillon Ripley Center with night that features music and dancing, geek costume prizes, space food (!), talks about science and space exploration, temporary tattoos, and things called “science cheerleaders” and “space origami.” Intriguing. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. 8 PM.
