For this year’s “best dressed” feature, we set out to find confidently fashionable Washingtonians. These 18 men and women are comfortable in their skin and know what makes them look good.
Wednesday night, The Washingtonian held a party in honor of the 2009 Style Setters at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel rooftop. View pictures of the party by clicking here.
Read on to find out more about this year's group of Style Setters.
For this year’s “best dressed” feature, we set out to find confidently fashionable Washingtonians. These 18 men and women are comfortable in their skin and know what makes them look good. There are other bright fashion lights in Washington (hello, Desirée Rogers), but this mix of well-known and under-the-radar style devotees shows that Washington isn’t, as the joke goes, “Hollywood for ugly people.” We also asked those who know our style setters what makes their sartorial choices so special.
Check out our video below of some of the most stylish folks in Washington. To see the full spread, head here.
Also, for a behind-the-scenes look at the three-day photo shoot, check out our video below.
Next: Find out what clothes and designers some of our style setters were wearing during the photo shoot.

Seriously embarrassing.... there are maybe two or three who belong on this list.
Why are there photos here of men in plain business suits?? Wearing a suit designed sometime in the last five years matched with an ’updated’ tie does NOT qualify you as a style trend setter.
There ARE people in DC with real style. Make a little effort to find them next time round.

Really?? Washington is THE most generic city and all but one of these ’Style Setters’ proves that point!

Quite unfortunate.

Style Setters? Wow, Washingtonian should really get out more (and reach beyond its Rolodex). There are far more stylish folks in D.C. The young lady on the far left and the fella on the far right are the only stylish two in the lot. What remains is cliche, unoriginal and blah.
P.S. Send your fashion editor to the "Walk This Way" event this Tuesday, if you’re at all interested in covering real style.

In a symphony.
In the light
of a symphony
there’s a charming
intention, and
also that fortune;
there’s a little
desire and the
sound of a
beautiful noise....

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
