Design the Cover of Washingtonian’s May Issue!
Published Monday, March 09, 2009
Listen up, readers! We need your help with the cover for our May issue of The Washingtonian. The theme is “Reasons We Love Washington,” so we’re asking our readers to come up with a fitting concept, design, or photo to feature. Take a look above at how other city magazines have interpreted the theme. Be inspired!
We’re open to any and every idea; nothing is too big or too small. And here’s the best part: If we pick your cover concept, food and wine writer Ann Limpert will take you and a friend to review a restaurant for an upcoming issue.
To be clear: We’re not asking for you to send in actual physical designs (though, if you have the time and inclination, we won’t turn those away!). We’d just like you to send in some ideas describing what you think would be an excellent cover for the “Reasons We Love Washington” issue.
Send your ideas to covers@washingtonian.com by 2 PM on March 16—that’s next Monday. Feel free to send along as many ideas as you come up with. Good luck! Related: Love Washington? Tell Us Why! March Photo Contest: Only in Washington More>> Capital Comment Blog | News & Politics | Society Photos

Idea 1 - One of the many reasons I love D.C. is because of its obvious and hidden symbols of power and liberty all throughout the city. I would love to see a focus on patriotism as well; perhaps a hint to the American past, while looking forward as well.
Idea 2 - How the city has evolved over time and sets the pace for the rest of the country
Idea 3 – Cover the many unique experiences one can have in D.C. – see past the typical tourist spots or just address aspects of those typical tourist spots that most people are not aware of.
