The Cupcake Cup Finals: Georgetown Cupcake vs. Bakeshop

Who makes the best cupcake in Washington? Vote now!

We've made it! After nearly a month of voting through 32 Washington-area cupcake spots, we're at the finals. Who are the top two cupcake contenders? Bakeshop in Clarendon and Georgetown Cupcake in Georgetown and Bethesda. Congratulations, you two!

Now, it's onto the voting. We're going to keep the polls open for a full week—until Wednesday, March 31—so as many people as possible have the chance to vote.

You can see the full bracket here; click below to vote for either Georgetown Cupcake or Bakeshop.

Georgetown Cupcake: This cupcakery is one of the grandaddies of the exploding cupcake trend in Washington. The sisters behind the operation give away one cupcake flavor for free every day (follow their Twitter to find out which one). Favorite flavors include peanut-butter fudge, key lime, and plain old chocolate.

Bakeshop: For a long time, the only way you could get Bakeshop cupcakes was to swing by the (now defunct) Murky Coffee in Arlington or to order from the baker's Web site. Now, Bakeshop has its own store in Clarendon, and you can order everything from red velvet to cookies 'n' cream cupcakes with abandon.

This poll will stay open until 10 AM on Wednesday, March 31.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.
