Give your inner poet a chance to shine during the weekly “Everything Verses” at Bohemian Caverns. Read poetry, perform a monologue, or dance to the sounds of DJ Lance Reynolds. 8 PM. Tickets are $7 at the door.

U Street Music Hall is throwing a Future Times/The Whale Holiday Party. Featuring Runaway, Beautiful Swimmers, and Mondo, it’s a good way to celebrate between Christmas and New Year’s. 10 PM; free.

The metal band GWAR is at the 9:30 Club. Your ears will ring and you might end up covered in fake blood. Also performing are the Casualties, Inferneon, and Mobile Deathcamp. 6 PM. Tickets ($22) are available through TicketFly.
