The Wrap-Up: The Week in Food

Every week we fill you in on what’s been going on in the food and restaurant world.

• Prince of Petworth catches two storefronts on Logan Circle’s 14th Street that are poised to become restaurants. One space, rumored to be taken over by the Masa 14 folks, will be a taqueria with a garden and acoustic music. Closer to Thomas Circle will be Teakwood, which, according to its alcohol-permit application, will serve Thai.

Bon Appetit gives a shoutout to lowkey DC bar the Passenger and its back Columbia Room, where Derek Brown puts together $54 cocktail tastings and chef/mixologist dinners. It’s landed on the magazine’s list of the ten best cocktail bars in the country, joining Philly’s Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. and San Francisco’s Smuggler’s Cove.

• Today’s quake-lite has inspired a few restaurant specials. Our pick: the $3.60 pineapple/tequila cocktail at DC’s Westend Bistro, which sounds about right for a 90 degree night.

• Chef Ed Witt, the New Yorker who came to open Morso in Georgetown then left after about two seconds, has shown up at 701. Adam Longworth, the Gotham Bar and Grill alum who turned the Penn Quarter restaurant's kitchen around, is in Vermont for family reasons, according to Tom Sietsema's Twitter feed.
