An Under-5-Minute Arm-Chiseling Workout

Get strong arms in just three simple exercises with personal trainer Laurent Amzallag’s workout.

Last week we shared local personal trainers’ favorite arm exercises, from pushups to pullups. This week, trainer Laurent Amzallag has put some of his favorite arm-toning exercises—tricep dips and bicep curls included—into one super-quick strength session. Tack it onto your next workout and feel the burn.

Totally Armored by Laurent
Total time: 1:30 minutes for one set

Tricep dips x 30 seconds
For the advanced, keep your feet elevated when performing dips.

Close-grip pushups x 30 seconds
Your hands should be placed closer together compared to a regular pushup.

Wall-sit bicep curls x 30 seconds
Perform a wall-sit so that your knees are 90 degrees to the floor while holding light- to medium-weight dumbbells. Perform as many curls as you can in 30 seconds. Amzallag says being against the wall “puts so much more pressure on the biceps and prevents cheating by involving your back too much.”

Repeat set two more times.
