Best of 2004: Darrell Green

He's the biggest-hearted Redskin.

In 20 years with the Redskins, Darrell Green was always the little guy with the big smile and bigger heart. When he retired in 2002, he threw himself into the good works he'd started as a player. His charity, the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation, opened its second and third afterschool learning centers this year and aims to create eight more by 2009. Green is also a partner in the local group bidding to own Washington's new baseball team. He's always been dedicated to the city and its youth–his involvement seems a sign that baseball will be good for Washington.
