Best of 2004: Lingerie

Belabumbum lingerie is designed in Washington.

Nothing may have come between Brooke Shields and her Calvins, but Alyssa Weiss and Heidi Rauch's sexy underthings grace the bodies of Salma Hayek, Kate Hudson, Jessica Simpson, and a galaxy of less heavenly bodies.

The Brazilian-made lingerie/swimwear company Belabumbum–Portuguese for "beautiful bottom"–operates on the principle of foundations as fashion. Says Rauch, the label's designer: "We're totally about women. The cuts are fun, colorful, not over-the-top or too expensive." For local retailers or to buy online, go to belabumbum.com.
