The Heidi Chronicles at Arena Stage

Wendy Wasserstein’s Tony Award-winning play, The Heidi Chronicles, about Heidi Holland, a feminist art historian, shows her at different points in her life—from a political rally in the ’60s to wearing a seriously shoulder-padded suit on a talk show in the ’80s. Though the play deals with serious issues—feminism, sexuality, and modern-day morals—the propelling force is humor.

But can the play, which was written in 1988, still be relevant and fresh today? I try to answer that question in my review of the show, which I caught last night at the Arena Stage. Read the review here, and as always, check out all our theater reviews here
