The weather seems to have turned the corner into spring for good—why not take advantage of it by having an evening picnic complete with jazz and views of the Potomac? That’s what Mount Vernon is offering up in a few weekends with its Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour on May 18, 19 and 20 (May 19 is already sold out, and the other dates are sure to sell out soon, which is why I’m givng the heads up so early).
A number of excellent local wineries will be participating in the festival, which features live jazz music from the Dixie Power Trio and candelit tours into the cellar of Mount Vernon—plus, of course, lots of wine to sample. The event takes place from 6pm to 9pm each evening, and tickets are $30 (a fruit and cheese box is available for an extra $22; outside food is not permitted on grounds).
