Island Attitude

“This porch addition doesn’t mimic the original house but ties in with it very well,” one judge said. Another called it “beautiful—light and refreshing.”

For this 1930s island cottage in St. Mary’s County, Good Architecture replaced an aged screened porch with this larger porch and roof deck that can be converted easily from screened to enclosed for four-season panoramic views. Though contemporary, the new structure maintains the scale and simplicity of the cottage.

The contractor was Mike Adams of A&A Painting and Restoration Company in Great Mills, Maryland.
