Halloween Trick or Treat

Get in a Halloween mood with these fun (and frightening!) fall activities.

Learn about DC’s haunted spaces on a Ghost Story Tour. The interactive tour begins at Lafayette Square, across from the White House, where participants meet the costumed spirits rumored to haunt it. Characters along the way will share spooky tales about the historic spots. October 19, 20, 26, 27, and 28: Friday and Sunday at 8, Saturday at 6 and 8. Tickets are $10, under age 17 $5. Alexandria has its ghostly legends, too. Old Town’s Ghost and Graveyard Tours point out the 18th-century buildings where some take place. One-hour walking tours depart from the Ramsay House visitors center nightly at 7:30 through November 1; additional tours held at 9 pm every Friday and Saturday and October 28 through 31. As if roller coasters weren’t scary enough, Six Flags America offers Fright Fest in October, with themed entertainment. It takes place every Saturday and Sunday through October 28, 1 to 10 pm, and October 26, 5 to 10 pm.
