Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do every night of this week for fun.

Monday, April 21: Be a Rock Star at McFadden’s
Frat boys as rock stars? It sounds paradoxical, but this popular-among-the-preppy Foggy Bottom bar somehow pulls it off. In fact, with a night devoted to Rock Band and Guitar Hero, McFadden’s is the place to be for aficionados. Monday night, known as Rock Star Monday, is devoted exclusively to the video games; specials include $2 Rolling Rock drafts and $7 pitchers. Get our full guide to bars with Guitar Hero and Rock Band here.

Tuesday, April 22: Celebrate Earth Day
Green is the new black—at least for one day—and Washington is making it easy to celebrate the planet this Earth Day, April 22. Read on for lots of ways to celebrate, including panels on being green, restaurant discounts, and more.
Wednesday, April 23: A Happy Hour That’s Beyond
Beyond Happy Hour may be one of the best happy hours you’ve never heard of. Held every Wednesday from 6 to 11 in the upstairs lounge of Skewers and Cafe Luna restaurants, it showcases excellent local DJs and insanely cheap drink specials: $2 beers, $3 pomegranate martinis, and $4 Ketel One martinis until 8 PM, with prices going up by just a dollar after that. Even better? There’s a $2 tapas menu from Cafe Luna all night long. Get details here.

Thursday, April 24: Filmfest DC
More than 70 features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world come to local screens in this annual festival. Check out The Tracey Fragments, with Juno star Ellen Page playing the main character, a runaway searching for her brother during a Canadian blizzard. Get more information and schedules here.
