Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What do to this week for fun!

Monday: Noir DC
The AFI is showing at least one film noir every night this week, including classics like Sunset Boulevard and Strangers on a Train. Tonight's film is Side Street, about a man who steals an envelope of cash—and ends up in way over  his head. 9 PM. Interested in more movies throughout the week to prep you for Halloween? Check out our guide to scary movies around town this week.

Tuesday: High Heel Race
It's a Halloween DC classic—the Dupont Circle High Heel Race. Between 17th and P Streets, NW, hundreds of spectacularly-outfitted drag queens will parade up and down the street. At 9 PM, they'll race in their heels. Get there as early as 6 PM if you want to get a solid viewing spot. Looking for more Halloween events this week? Make sure to check out our guide.

Wednesday: Free Beer From the Onion
Two things we love are coming together this evening—funny rag The Onion, and free alcohol! The publication is having an event tonight at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre, where there will be beer, pizza, and…Ronnie Mervis? Well, whatever! Free beer! But first you must RSVP to dcpromo@theonion.com with the subject “Oct. Onion Beer Party.” 6 PM.

Thursday: Prove Your Pumpkin Carving Skills
Tonight, the Helix Lounge provides pre-scooped pumpkins, carving supplies and prizes for the fourth annual pumping carving contest. Come prepared with a great idea and put your skills to the test. 6-8 PM; free. Get more Halloween fun ideas from our guide.
