Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What do to for fun this week.

Monday: $1 Beers!
You could go to Duffy’s for the fried pickles or Buffalo wings ($5.95 a dozen during happy hour) or you might stop by for a cheap preconcert drink on your way to the nearby 9:30 Club. But let’s face it, there’s one reason to check out this dive off U Street: $1 cans of beer Monday 4 to midnight. With pool tables, a jukebox, and a Big Buck Hunter arcade game, this is a no-frills bar.

Want more cheap beer? We've got some ideas for you.

Tuesday: The White Lies
They're buzzed about as the best new band coming out of the United Kingdom, and now they're making their way to our fair shores to try to prove it. White Lies sounds like a new New Order; head to the Black Cat tonight to see if the hype is true. $15.

Wednesday: Beer and Ballet
You may not think of the two as going hand in hand, but the Jete Society is pairing up cold beer and good ballet at its happy hour tonight. For $25, throw back a few cold ones while watching a rehearsal of the Washington Ballet's upcoming Peter Pan program. You can buy tickets here.

Thursday: Water Art
In honor of World Water Week, some local artists are showing off works that emphasize how just one glass of water can be significant. Check out their works at Edison Gallery, which is open noon to 4 PM in Gallery Place.
