Art Smith—former personal chef to Oprah—celebrates dads at his Capitol Hill restaurant with an all-you-can-eat carving station featuring Carolina pork barbecue and prime rib. A salad, two sides, dessert, and a flight of beer are included in the $39 price. The carving station as well as the regular brunch menu are available from 11 to 4.
This Penn Quarter pan-Asian restaurant is offering a two-course menu for lunch and dinner. Starters include coconut-lime shrimp with mango salsa and warm spinach salad with bacon vinaigrette. For the main course, there’s a grilled cilantro-marinated pork chop with Thai salsa; Korean sizzling beef with sesame-ginger sauce; or shrimp sauteed with chili, Thai basil, tomatoes, and cream. The fixed-price menu is $29. A special barbecue takeout menu will also be available through June 21. Main-course choices include Thai barbecue chicken and Laos grilled steak. Sides are sticky rice; bacon-cheese fries; papaya salad; and a house salad. The takeout dinner is $20 for one entrée and two sides.
At this Thai dining room in Georgetown’s Washington Harbour, chef Aulie Bunyarataphan has created a menu that features many of her husband’s favorite dishes. From noon to 10:30, you’ll get a complimentary mimosa (flavors include coconut, pomegranate, ginger-lemon, and mango) with a purchase of a $16 “mini-entrée.” These include mango-barbecue Atlantic salmon with brown-rice pilaf; grilled Chilean sea bass with stir-fried vegetables; spicy drunken seafood noodles with Chinese lo mein; grilled flank steak with spicy green-papaya salad; panko-crusted chicken with ginger rice pilaf; crispy duck breast; grilled petite filet mignon with sautéed shrimp and asparagus; and an assortment of dumplings (shrimp, pork-and-crab shumai, mushroom-and-ginger, and chicken-and-winter-squash pot stickers). For dessert, choose among three flavors of house-made ice cream and sorbet ($6) or chocolate-mousse cake ($7). The regular menu is also available.
Beacon Bar & Grill
This Modern American restaurant in the Beacon Hotel is hosting a barbecue-inspired brunch buffet from 11 to 5. There’ll be live entertainment and a complimentary glass of Champagne, mimosa, or Bloody Mary. $29.95 per adult, $14.95 per child.
Michael Mina’s high-rolling restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel is offering a family-style dinner with choices such as butter-poached prime rib with horseradish cream; fried chicken with black-truffle mac and cheese; stuffed pork chops with cornbread; and lobster pot pie. Dinner is served from 6 to 10, and the shareable main courses range from $29 to $65 per person ($15 for children under 12).
The Butcher’s Block
If your father is hands-on in the kitchen, consider this culinary demonstration from chef Robert Wiedmaier and chef de cuisine Chris Watson at their Old Town wine-and-butcher-shop (1600 King St., Alexandria). They’ll show you how to clean and butcher a whole animal. The class, which begins at 7:30, is free, but reservations are required. Call 703-894-5253 for a spot.
For $24.95, three of restaurateur Geoff Tracy’s spots will feature special brunch options, such as a dry-aged prime New York strip with fried eggs and home fries. Does Dad have a sweet tooth? This chocolate-obsessed restaurant/lounge in Penn Quarter will serve both fixed-price ($22) and à la carte brunches. Dishes include French-toast s’mores; citrus-ricotta pancakes with white-chocolate/lemon cream; a twice-baked cheese soufflé; and a breakfast flatbread. Fathers will get chocolate treats to take home.
Del Merei Grille
This relaxed Del Ray neighborhood restaurant will serve an à la carte brunch from 10:30 until 2:30; entrées range from $8 to $20. It will also serve the regular dinner menu starting at 5, with a prime-rib special for $24.
From Friday, June 19, through Father’s Day, this Cleveland Park dining room will transform itself into a traditional Italian steakhouse. In addition to the regular menu, there’ll be specials ($22 to $38) such as venison, buffalo, T-bone steak, lamb chops, wild boar, and flatiron steak. Each is served with choice of sauces, including green-peppercorn, red-wine, and butter-balsamic. On Sunday, a special Father’s Day brunch runs from 11 to 2:30. Choices ($7 to $22) include wild-mushroom bruschetta and sourdough French toast with cherry-vanilla syrup. All brunch specials are served with applewood-smoked bacon or house-made boar sausage. There’s a children’s brunch menu, and the regular menu will be available, too. Friday through Sunday, bottles of wine over $50 will be 33 percent off.
This European fusion restaurant (12050-A North Shore Dr., Reston; 703-742-6466) will offer a special brunch menu including lobster ravioli; eggs Benedict; seafood and meat paellas; and chicken cordon bleu. The regular menu will also be available. Brunch will be served from 11 to 2:30. Dishes range from $8.95 to $13.
14K Restaurant and Lounge
From 7 to 2, enjoy a Father’s Day breakfast buffet at 14K Restaurant and Lounge (1101 14th St., NW; 202-218-7575). The selection includes farmer’s sausage and smoked applewood bacon, made-to-order omelets, fresh-cut fruit, breakfast potatoes, and more. $18.95 per adult, $11.95 for children under 12.
This whimsically casual restaurant in DC’s West End (2030 M St., NW; 202-872-8700) will feature a “cowboy breakfast”—a New York strip steak and fries ($25)—at brunch, served from 10 to 3. Dinner, from 5 to 9, will feature such specials as seafood-stuffed Maine lobster ($38); cowboy-cut steak with truffled baked potato ($37); and “the big piece of chicken” ($24).
Le Chat Noir
This homey French bistro in Friendship Heights (4907 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-244-2044) is offering a special menu for brunch and dinner. For $27.95 at brunch and $35 at dinner, diners can choose either an appetizer and entrée or an entrée and dessert. Appetizers include vichyssoise, ceviche de crevettes, and arugula salad. For the main course, there’s coriander-crusted ahi tuna, braised lamb roulade, and roasted pork Napoleon. Desserts include Earl Grey crème brûlée and a Nutella crêpe.
The more casual offshoot (600 13th St., NW; 202-347-1500) of seafood chain McCormick & Schmick’s fetes fathers with brunch from 11 to 2 and dinner specials served all day. For $19.95, you’ll get a platter with barbecue ribs and citrus-barbecue chicken, two sides, and crème brûlée. For $24.95, you’ll get a 12-ounce prime rib with a baked potato, vegetables, and crème brûlée. For $29.95, you can get a filet with crab-stuffed shrimp, sautéed sea scallops, vegetables and rice, and crème brûlée.
Mon Ami Gabi
The Reston outpost of this chain of French-style bistros will serve an à la carte brunch with live jazz. Specials include different varieties of eggs Benedict (smoked salmon, Canadian bacon, and Florentine); blueberry-and-strawberry French toast; and Belgian waffles. There’ll be a make-your-own-Bloody-Mary bar plus a rolling Champagne cart with mimosas, bellinis, and kirs. Here’s a bonus: Dads receive a $25 gift certificate.
All six locations of Morton’s will serve a $65 three-course dinner. Appetizers include onion soup and a variety of salads. Among the entrées are filet mignon, New York strip, Cajun rib eye, broiled salmon, and chicken Christopher. Dessert is a choice between carrot cake and Key-lime pie. Diners can also choose a side of vegetables or potatoes. The regular dinner menu will also be available.

Oakville Grille and Wine Bar

Osprey’s Landing at the Osprey’s Golf Club
Hit the links at the Osprey’s Golf Club before or after a meal at Osprey’s Landing (401 Belmont Bay Dr., Woodbridge; 703-494-1935). Brunch, from 11 to 3, will feature dishes such as French toast, eggs Benedict, and omelets. A special dinner menu will be served starting at 4.
The McLean branch of this clubby steakhouse will offer a lobster special for two, including a four-pound lobster, salads, and a side for $89.95.
Pinzimini at the Westin Arlington Gateway
This Italian-themed hotel dining room (801 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington; 703-537-4200) will serve a three-course à la carte menu. Starters include arugula salad ($7) and Caesar salad ($9); main-course specials are lamb brochettes ($18), balsamic-barbecued pork spare ribs ($17), and peppercorn-crusted yellowfin tuna ($18). For dessert, there’s tiramisu ($6) or chocolate/hazelnut cake ($6).
Roof Terrace Restaurant at the Kennedy Center
A brunch buffet and live music from the Brian Litz Trio are planned at the Kennedy Center’s dining room with a view. On the menu: prime rib from a carving station; made-to-order omelets; oysters from a seafood bar; and Lyonnaise potatoes. There’ll be a special children’s section, and parents can sip on a complimentary mimosa or glass of wine. The all-you-can-eat buffet is $39.95 for adults, $20 for children under 12.
Russia House Restaurant & Lounge
A three-course dinner will be held at Dupont Circle’s Russia House. Main courses include an Angus New York strip; beef stroganoff; and chicken satsivi. Desserts are chocolate mousse, crème caramel, and profiteroles. Dinner is $35 per person; children’s plates range from $12.95 to $19.95.
Smith & Wollensky
A $49 three-course menu will be on offer for lunch and dinner at this downtown DC steakhouse. Starters include tomato-and-mozzarella salad; the Wollensky salad; a field-green salad; or shrimp cocktail ($10 surcharge). For the main course, there’s roast prime rib; tempura-crusted soft-shell crab; filet mignon; and surf and turf ($12 extra). Dessert is a choice of cheesecake; chocolate-ganache layer cake; or a banana sundae. The regular menu will also be available.
Sudhir Seth’s splashy new Indian restaurant in Rockville Town Square (100-B Gibbs St.; 301-610-0303) is offering a traditional Indian lunch buffet from 11:30 to 3. It’s $12.95 for adults, $7.95 for children between ages 5 and 10, free for children under 5. The regular dinner menu will be available in the evening.
This colorfully elegant, pondside Falls Church restaurant is offering a three-course, fixed-price menu. Appetizers are Greek salad with grilled shrimp; duo of heirloom tomatoes; hamachi carpaccio; chilled cantaloupe soup; and Hudson Valley foie gras with apricot-almond chutney. Entrées include steamed black bass; roasted veal-loin chop; braised rabbit leg; and a rib eye with Yukon potatoes. To finish, frozen chocolate truffle; orange soufflé; vanilla napoleon; or devil’s-food cake with chocolate-chip ice cream. $58 per person.
Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro
Executive Chef Bo Palker's à la carte brunch menu includes Hawaiian tuna carpaccio, lobster frittata, pan-roasted sea bass with wild-mushroom risotto, and Vinifera Paella with shrimp, scallops, mussels, and spicy chorizo served over saffron arborio. Dads can pair their feast with a bottle of wine from the more then 300 selections in the restaurant's cellar. Vinifera's "Grill and Golf Sundays" will also start on Father's Day, featuring a menu of grilled grass-fed steaks, the summer's freshest vegetables, and gourmet burgers (golfers receive a round of complimentary Arnold Palmers and a 10-percent discount on their total check with a date-stamped scorecard from Reston National Golf Course, located just across the street). Brunch is from 10 to 2; the à la carte menu items range from $9 to $24. "Grill and Golf Sundays" will run every weekend through August 30, from noon to 6 PM.
