Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Pink-chic and local laughs

It’s a celebrate-the-ladies night at DC’s Josephine Lounge. The Tigerlily Foundation is hosting an evening of entertainment and fashion to support survivors and fighters of breast cancer. Dress attire is pink or white and ’40s and ’50s chic. The best-dressed attendee receives a prize from Saks Fifth Avenue. There’ll be a silent auction, specialty cocktails, and—depending on how risqué you’re feeling—a pole-dancing competition for the chance to win a bottle of Champagne. $35. 6 PM.

Laugh out loud tonight at the Topaz Hotel Bar’s Enlightenment Room for a live standup comedy show. The “Laughing Buddha-ha-ha” show features ten local standup comics—each performing for three to ten minutes. After the show, you can go onstage for a best-joke competition. Prizes are $25 cash, tickets to a comedy show in Bethesda, and a beer on the house. Dinner and drinks are available in the showroom. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Free. 8 PM.

Join Alexandria’s Torpedo Factory Art Center for a concert by Djesben, a trio that plays jazz standards, bebop, bossa nova, and original tunes influenced by music from around the world. Although the name Djesben means “jazz band,” the instruments of this group—including the ten-string tapping instrument called the Chapman stick, conga drums, and a dulcimer—aren’t typically found in a jazz trio. Free. 7 PM.
