Where & When: What to Do Tonight

New Orleans jazz, endless summer, and Taste of Gaylord—all tonight

The 9:30 Club hosts the New Orleans-based funk-and-jazz band Galactic with guests Cyril Neville and Corey Henry. Galactic’s newest album, Ya-Ka-May, was released earlier this year and shows influences from a range of musical genres, including hip-hop, electronic, and blues. Also performing is the Silver Spring reggae-rock group Lionize. Tickets are $25. Doors open at 8.

L2 Lounge hosts the second annual Endless Summer Beach Party for Luke’s Wings, an organization dedicated to the support of wounded service members. Enjoy fruity drinks, tiki huts, kiddie pools, a surf simulator, and more to get you into the island mood. Dress in your best beachwear or summer attire. And get ready for games: There’ll be limbo contests, beach Twister, and a surfing contest. Tickets are $30 at the door. 7 PM.

Gaylord National Resort
hosts Taste of Gaylord every Friday in August. For $20, visitors can enjoy food-and-beverage pairings from four eateries, including Old Hickory Steakhouse and Pienza Italian Market. You get a “passport,” which each restaurant stamps. Make sure you hold on to it—the passport entitles you to 10 percent off a meal at a participating restaurant until September 6. Guests can also enjoy live music and shopping. Purchase tickets at the Java Coast coffee shop in the Gaylord’s indoor atrium. 5:30 to 7:30.
