Midsummer tells the story of a one-night stand that just won’t end. The romantic musical comedy includes car chases, found fortunes, and horrible hangovers. It’s Cheap Date Night at Woolly Mammoth Theatre, so it’s time to take your favorite guy or gal for a classy night out. Michael Hurst, an artist formerly based in DC, has returned to curate “extraORDINARY” at Cre8 (1314 Ninth St., NW). Today, he’s joining eight other artists at the show’s opening. The exhibit aims to celebrate a new collective way of thinking about and displaying art. 7 PM; free.

Get a jump on the Christmas season with the Northern Virginia Christmas Market in the Dulles Expo Center. A Washington holiday favorite is back: Weather permitting, today is the season opening of the Sculpture Garden Ice Rink. Bike riding gets a vintage makeover today at the Tweed Ride, sponsored by Dandies & Quaintrelles. Riders are asked to make a donation, which will go to Arts for the Aging. Following the ride is a party ($25) with gin cocktails, ’20s music, and a fashion show. So don your vest and cap and get cycling. Get in touch with your inner Tarzan (or Jane) at Go Ape in Rockville Regional Park (6129 Needwood Lake Dr., Derwood). The treetop obstacle course, featuring zip lines, giant swings, and a ropes course, is offering a special rate ($35), and proceeds go to the City Kids Wilderness Project.
