Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Mid-week, try a boozy book swap and country-dance party

Busboys and Poets is hosting an evening with two of everyone’s favorite things: reading and drinking. Enjoy a cocktail or two while browsing and swapping new reading material. 7 PM; tickets are free, reserve them at Eventbrite.

Enjoy some “red-hot rockabilly and vintage honky tonk” at Artisphere’s Wednesday night dance with J.P. McDermott and Western Bop. The local band hopes to keep the sound of traditional country music alive. 7:30 to 11; buy tickets ($15) at Artisphere’s site.

Artist Alexis Rockman explores the intersection of science and art during his lecture tonight at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. His focus is on climate change, the impact humans have on it, and how art can raise awareness of environmental issues. 7 PM; free.
