Monday, January 31
Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast and Nathan Williams of Wavves bring their shared pop-punk SoCal aesthetic to the 9:30 Club. 6:30; get tickets ($20) at Ticket Fly.

Tuesday, February 1
The legendary Alvin Ailey Dance Theater is coming to the Kennedy Center with a program of new and classic dances, including “Revelations,” which was first performed 50 years ago. Through February 6. Buy tickets ($30 to $99) through the KenCen site.

Wednesday, February 2
Opening tonight is Charming Billy at the Round House Theater. The play, adapted from the novel of the same name by Bethesda author Alice McDermott, centers on the life of an Irish-American alcoholic. Through February 20; get tickets ($25 to $60) at the venue’s Web site.

Thursday, February 3
Get down and dirty at the Poetry Brothel, hosted by the Poetry Society of New York. There will be a tarot card reader and burlesque dancers, and for $5 a pop, the Poetry Whores will bare their hearts in one-on-one poetry readings. At the Gibson; feel free to come in costume or black tie. 8 PM to 1 AM; purchase tickets ($15) through Pay Pal.
