10 Beach Weekend Must-Haves

A beach bag: Why do straw when you can do print? This Vince Camuto Vivi tote ($198 at Macy’s) combines two our of favorite trends—black and white with neon—for a graphic take.
The swimsuit: One-piece swimsuits have been inching their way toward a major comeback in recent summers—and we are fully on board. To keep it current, go for mod color-blocking, like this Rodanthe one ($98 at Anthropologie), or a trendy print (such as Mara Hoffman’s kaleidoscope version, $220 at Net-a-Porter).
Sunnies: Do sunglasses get any cooler than these angular oversize tortoiseshell ones ($220 at Bonadrag) from Karen Walker? There’s a reason they’re a fave of seemingly every single fashion blogger on the Web.
A hat: A big, floppy sun hat is always a good choice, but we’re loving the cool-girl Panama as an alternative. J.Crew’s hand-woven version ($58) is pretty much the gold standard.
Beauty essentials: Sunscreen is obviously a must—and if you’re anywhere close to fair, so is aloe. We like this Ole Henriksen gel ($21 at Sephora). Toss in Bumble and Bumble’s set of surf-inspired hair supplies ($28), Becca’s water-resistant lip and cheek stain ($25), and Josie Maran’s ah-may-zing all-natural argan oil ($14 to $96) for when your sun-parched skin needs a hit of moisture.
A fun towel: Treat this like another accessory! Jonathan Adler’s beach towels come in playful graphic patterns that stand out from the usual stripes ($88).
An effortlessly cool sundress: Keep it loose for a breezy vibe. This airy tank dress ($52 at Need Supply) boasts a simple shift silhouette and a neutral hue.
Sandals: Just say no to rubber flip-flops. Instead, pick a simple yet stylish flat sandal that can easily transition from day to night. Sol Sana’s Erika sandal ($86 at Shopbop) combines classic nude leather with a touch of glam gold, while Rachel Zoe’s Gwen sandal ($195 at Piperlime) combines a summery silhouette with an unexpected pattern.
Beach bangles: We love an armful of bangles to accessorize a bathing suit—little effort, major impact. Two to try: This trio of geometric gold bracelets ($24 at Need Supply), or Amrita Singh’s colorful, Indian-inspired bracelets ($100).
An extra layer: Make sure to include a cozy sweater in a soft, neutral hue, such as this Vanessa Bruno open-knit pullover ($285 at La Garconne), for when the sun goes down.
