HAPPY HOUR: June, perhaps jealous of Mustache March and Movember, is trying to prove it’s as good a month as any to grow facial hair with the Mansion on O Street’s Mustache Mondays. Every Monday this month, you can get half-price Traveler beers and participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the mansion’s 100 rooms, which include 32 secret doors, 16 kitchens, and two wine cellars. Good news for those of you with small bladders: There are also 34 bathrooms. Don’t have a mustache? The organizers will be giving out fake ones. Tickets ($10) are available online. 5:30 PM.
Tuesday, June 4
PUBLISHING: Did you know Washington has all sorts of independently created magazines and zines? Well, you do now. Learn more about them at Hothouse, a new art installation at Capitol Skyline Hotel. To celebrate the opening, the people behind Barrelhouse Mag, the Cartoon Picayune, DC Zine Fest, the Intentional, Popular Demand, the Runcible Spoon, and Worn Magazine will be on hand to talk about and hawk their publications. Free. 6:30 PM.
Wednesday, June 5
FOOD: This summer, Art and Soul is hosting a weekly three-course pig-and-oyster roast. Things get started off with a snack board featuring pork rinds and other finger foods before moving on to slow-cooked pork and Rappahannock Oysters. Finish things off with dessert and a bowl of punch made with cherry blossom tea and Hum liqueur. Tickets ($35) are available online. 5:30 PM.
Thursday, June 6
PIRATES: Slap on the ol’ eyepatch and hit the high . . . uhh, rivers with a Potomac River Cruise Pirate Party. Meet at the Georgetown Waterfront decked out in your best pirate gear for a two-hour boat ride featuring an open bar and a deejay. When it’s done, check out the after-party at George, a place you can be pretty sure hasn’t seen too many pirates before. Tickets ($50) are available online. 7:30 PM.
