Boot Camp

Join trainer Gitanjali Borkar for 50 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching. Borkar’s bodyweight training bootcamps are designed for short periods of high intensity exercise, and are great for all levels. Bring water and a yoga mat. First class is free. 6:30 AM.

North Face Mountain Training Athletics

Join two North Face trainers for workouts aimed at strengthening you for your outdoor fitness goals. Train to finish an endurance challenge, ski stronger, or hit the summit. Register online for the December 29 or December 31 sessions. Free, 6:30 PM.

Open Meditation

Learn Tai Chi

Fairfax Four Miler

Pacers Running is hosting this four-mile race though Old Town Fairfax and George Mason University. Register online to save a spot and snag a sweatshirt, and be sure to stay for the post-race pizza party. $40; 6 PM.

New Year’s Day 5K

Join the Potomac River Running Store at Reston Town Center for a New Year’s kickoff. Registration includes a long-sleeve tech t-shirt and post-race music and food. $35-40; 10 AM.

2016 Resolution 10K, 5K, or 1-Mile Trail Run

Pick your race and start the new year with charity and trail running at the Conway Robinson State Forest! A portion of race proceeds will go to the Friends of Conway Robinson for trail maintenance. Register online. $30-45; 10 AM.

Introductory Road Cycling

Join The Bike Rack for an introduction to road cycling—a 25- to 30-mile ride set at a 12- to 15-mph pace for anyone new to group riding. Bring your road bike and helmet; register online. Free; 10 AM.

Frozen 5K

January 3; 7201 Heritage Village Plaza, Gainesville

Run out and back along Heathcote Road for the BRATS Frozen 5K, then gather for awards inside the Sport and Health Club after the race. Register online. $30; 8:30 AM.
