The portraits from Courtney Chou and Son Duong’s wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, a stunning property that looks out over the Blue Ridge Moutains near Charlottesville, actually make us breathless. Laughter came easily between Courtney and Sonny, who bonded as social committee co-chairs during their second year at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. This person is going to be my best friend, Courtney remembers thinking after only a few conversations. Turns out, the otolaryngologist was right.Â
After graduation, the duo took a trip to Cambodia, where Sonny intended to propose after a sunrise bike ride to the ancient temple Angkor Wat. A broken bike chain almost thwarted the pediatrician’s carefully laid plan, but luckily the couple encountered a lone tuk-tuk driver in the early-morning hours. Sonny enlisted him with a generous tip, and the driver sped to their destination in time for Courtney to agree to be Sonny’s wife against a backdrop of fiery reds and oranges.
The Virginia natives returned home for their nuptials, which featured lush chandeliers of greenery hanging above farm tables, a cake-and-pie bar, and hot sauce wedding favors. Adventure called again for the honeymoon, which the newlyweds spent in New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Goa, India.
