Food trucks, cold beer, and little dogs in Halloween costumes–this year’s Wiener 500 Oktoberfest was made for DC dog people. Proud Dachshund owners can enter their short-legged pals in the annual Dachshund Dash (register your pup here for $25), and dog owners can also enter their puppies in a free costume contest. Take a look at photos from last year’s contest for costume inspiration!  Humans can partake in seasonal craft brews and eats from food trucks like Red Hook Lobster Pound and Captain Cookie. No pup? The Washington Humane Society will be there with adoptable pets.

5th Annual Wiener 500 Oktoberfest. Yards Park. Saturday, September 24, from 1 to 5 pm. Free entry. Dachshund Dash race registration fee of $25 benefits the Washington Humane Society.
