There Was an Eclipse Party on the Mall, and It Was Wonderful

The United States may be more divided politically than at any point in recent memory, but a once-in-an-era celestial event can still fill the National Mall without requiring people to take a side. During Monday’s eclipse, people from all over the country, all over the region, and all over the world wore special glasses. They brought modified boxes and kitchen tools. At least one person brought a welder’s mask. And at the appointed hour, they all looked up.
