Jazz in the Garden Announces Its Summer Concerts

The popular concert series starts May 19. This year, tickets will be given out by a lottery system.

The National Gallery of Art today released its lineup of Jazz in the Garden concerts, starting with Martha Redbone Roots Project on Friday, May 19. The Sculpture Garden concerts will be held every Friday, from May 19 through August 4, and this year feature jazz, zydeco, Latin fusion, bluegrass, and other musical performances.

One big change this year to the popular concerts, which often got very crowded: Admission will be still be free, but you have to enter a lottery for tickets. Each concert will have its own lottery, which will open the week prior, on Monday at 10 a.m. You can request up to four passes. Those who get tickets will be notified the week of the concert, on Monday. Some extra passes will be handed out, on a first-come, first-served basis, at the entrance gates starting at 5 p.m. on concert evenings. Concerts start at 6 p.m.
