Frank Gruber admits he’s “kind of MacGyver-ish” about the contents of his bags. “Anything you need in any possible situation, I have it,” says the CEO of Tech Cocktail, a media company in Arlington.

Gruber travels several times a month. At any given time, he could be carrying his laptop, a variety of chargers, granola bars, a MiFi device, business cards, Airborne supplements, and more. While traveling, he rotates among three bags: a Timbuk2 backpack/messenger bag adorned with pins from different start-ups and places he’s visited (shown above), a black pinstripe Hurley backpack, and a thinner Incase messenger bag, which he sometimes packs in his suitcase to use when he arrives at his destination. Finding a bag that combines comfort and style took him years: “I have a big bag graveyard.”
