Surfside Dupont Opens With 24-7 Tacos

Mexican eats for the early-risers and all-nighters.

It may not feel like outdoor taco-eating weather, but Surfside opens its 24-7 taco stand in Dupont today. The second brick-and-mortar branch of the Glover Park taqueria is takeout-only (there’s also a food truck), and will add delivery soon.

The menu is similar to the flagship location. Diners can pick from a variety of corn or flour tortillas filled with grilled rockfish, steak, shrimp, or chicken, as well as a few new combinations such as the Phuket, with teriyaki beef short ribs and sesame slaw; or the St. John, with roasted Brussels sprouts, squash, and toasted pumpkin seeds. A number of vegetarian options exist in every category, including quesadillas, burritos, and salads.

Anyone dropping by between 11 PM and 11 AM will find an abbreviated lineup of dishes with a few breakfast options, which can also serve to soak up the booze if you’re ordering after last call. Tortillas with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and cheddar at 3 AM on a Thursday? Coming right up.

Surfside Dupont. 1800 N St., NW; 202-466-1830. Always open.
