Who couldn’t use a moment of peace in the middle of a hectic day? Maybe anxiety can fly away on the wings of a blue heron. Or perhaps one can find calm in the stillness of turtles sunning on a log. Beauty and wildlife abound all along the C&O Canal, but one sweet spot is in Cabin John, where you can sit at a picnic table or dangle your legs over the edge of the canal near Lockhouse 8, a white stone building built in 1830.
