Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

This week, there's the Fort Reno concert series, Bastille Day activities, and more.

Monday, July 13: Indie Rock Goodness
Poor But Sexy, Laura Zax, and Mittenfields perform tonight at Fort Reno, Washington's free outdoor summer concert series which highlights some of the best local indie bands. Shows start around 7:15 in the field at 3950 Chesapeake Street, NW. Click here to get the complete schedule.

Tuesday, July 14: Running of the French Maids
To celebrate Bastille Day, L’Enfant Cafe is hosting a French-maid relay race. Gather at this Adams Morgan bar at 8 to witness more than 30 people decked out in sexy French-maid costumes. We suggest arriving early to take advantage of food and drink specials. The party is hosted by King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette—or at least a couple of folks dressed up like them—so everyone’s eating (free) cake! For more Bastille Day fun, check out our guide.

Wednesday, July 15: Headscarf and the Angry Bitch
Part of this year's Fringe Festival, Zehra Fazal's twist on Hedwig and the Angry Inch, takes a look at what growing up Muslim in America is like. The show (which is not recommended for kids, FYI) is onstage at the Warehouse Theatre. 6 PM. To purchase tickets, click here.

Thursday, July 16: Out-of-this-World Fun
Steven Spielberg's alien classic, ET, screens tonight as part of the Capital Riverfront Best of the '80s outdoor movie series. Films are shown every Thursday at sundown (8:45) at Tingey Plaza. For more free summer screenings, check out our guide.
