Where & When: What to Do this Weekend

Who’s up for some PowerPoint Karaoke, aerial acrobatics, a date with Mrs. Robinson, and free fro-yo?

Thursday: NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL EARLY JUNE, DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. Fashion for Paws launches Pawtini, a pet-friendly happy hour benefitting the Washington Humane Society, at the W Hotel’s J&G Steakhouse patio. Starting at 6, guests are encouraged to bring their four-legged companions for drink and food specials. Twenty percent of the event’s proceeds goes to Fashion for Paws.

The Washington Post’s Going Out Gurus are holding their monthly happy hour at Dupont Circle’s Big Hunt. In addition to drink and food specials, the Gurus will have a Skee-Ball competitionand a raffle with such prizes as restaurant discounts and concert tickets. 6 PM.

The Web site IhateMy9to5.com is hosting PowerPoint Karaoke at Wonderland Ballroom. Instead of lyrics on a screen, participants have to improvise a presentation based on a series of slideshows. There’ll be $2 off all draft beers, $1 drinks, and $3 hot dogs. Admission is free, and the event begins at 6:30 pm.

The Washington City Paper celebrates its summer music guide with a party at the Rock & Roll Hotel. On the roster: the bands White Ford Bronco, Sean Chyun and the Deceivers, and Batala, as well as DJs Dimitirs George, Keenan Orr, and LJ MTX. The doors open at 6:30, and the party starts at 7:30. Free.

Every Thursday, Zoo Bar hosts open-mike nights with the Silver Spring-based blues band Big Boy Little. 8:30; no cover charge.
Friday: To celebrate the Green Seal certification of its local hotels, the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is sending Sweetgreen’s Sweetflow truck to its various properties, and the first 50 people on site receive a complimentary frozen yogurt cone with one topping. The truck will be at Hotel Monaco at 11, Hotel Helix at noon, Hotel Rouge at 3, Hotel Topaz at 4, Hotel Madera at 5, and Hotel Palomar at 6.

For those who find themselves in the waning days of college—or if you just like to listen to a lot of Simon & Garfunkel—the AFI Silver Theatre is devoting the weekend to special screenings of Dustin Hoffman’s 1967 classic The Graduate. The opening night is Friday at 7, and tickets are $10.

Everyone’s favorite pretty woman, Julia Roberts, is on the screen tonight at Rosslyn’s Gateway Park, as part of the I Love the ’90s! Outdoors Film Festival. My Best Friend’s Wedding, co-starring a then-up-and-coming Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney, shows at dusk. Arrive early to partake in pre-show ’90s-themed games and prizes.

Saint Sophia Cathedral (36th St. and Massachusetts Ave., NW; 202-333-4730) is holding its Spring Greek Festival all weekend. Check out Greek food, art, music, and games from noon to 9 PM. Free.
Saturday: The fifth anniversary of DC Yoga Week hits the National Mall today with a free public yoga session. Bring your mats to the Washington Monument for live music, refreshments, and demonstrations. The event goes from 1 to 5.

Grab a six pack and head over to Jack’s Boathouse for Sericulture, a night of music curated by the local band Bluebrain. The roster of performing artists are being kept secret until this BYOB event gets started, so be prepared for anything. 8 PM.

Mixtape, the location-shifting monthly dance party for gays and gay-friendly straights, takes over EFN Lounge tonight. DJs Shea Van Horn and Matt Bailer will spin tracks starting at 10. Drink specials include $5 vodka/Red Bulls and $3 domestic beers. $5 cover charge.

Sunday: The annual Taste of Arlington runs today from noon to 5 on Wilson Boulevard in front of Ballston Common Mall. This year’s street festival includes bites from more than 40 restaurants, including Jaleo, Rustico, Lebanese Taverna, and Liberty Tavern. Entertainment features performances by the Levine School of Music’s Virginia Big Band and Bowen McCauley Dance’s Kenmore Junior Company. Tickets ($20 online; $25 at the event) can be purchased here.

Aerial acrobatics abound at the Joint Services Open House and Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base (Rte. 5 and Allentown Rd., Camp Springs, Md.; 301-981-4600). Watch a parachute team, helicopters, and all manner of military aircraft at this rain-or-shine event. Free. Saturday and Sunday 8 to 5.

The National Gallery of Art hosts an afternoon a screening of La Piel Quemada (The Burnt Skin), a 1966 film by Catalan actor and director Josep María Forn. Through the personal narrative of a laborer in fashionable Costa Brava, the film tackles issues related to Andalusian migration not discussed in Spanish cinema again until 2003. 4:30.
