Best of Washington 2012: Best Iced Coffee

When you’re a TV news anchor and your alarm clock goes off before 3 am, you rely on coffee to perk you up. We asked five morning anchors to rate seven iced coffees.

They know coffee: ABC7’s Steve Chenevey, NBC4’s Angie Goff and Aaron Gilchrist, Fox 5’s Sarah Simmons, and WUSA9’s Andrea Roane. Photograph of news anchors by Vincent Ricardel (makeup and grooming by Kim Reyes using Make Up For Ever).

The java from this homegrown coffee bar—on Capitol Hill and near DC’s Logan Circle—had a flavor that Sarah Simmons called “intense but not strong.”

The testers who add sugar to their coffee especially loved this brew. “It tastes like how I’d expect coffee to be,” said Steve Chenevey.

While one anchor found this joe “watery” and another said it reminded her of instant, others liked the “nutty” and “smooth” flavor.
