The Presidential Inauguration Committee today added more groups to the list of who
will march in the 57th inaugural parade. They join four local organizations that have
been invited to march along Pennsylvania Avenue: DC’s Ballou High Majestic Knights,
the University of Maryland Marching Band, the Canine Companions for Independence of
Fauquier County, Virginia, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The announced parade participants number more than
40, and will come to Washington at their own expense from across the country. To be
considered for the parade, groups had to submit an application to the inauguration
organizers—the so-called Joint Task Force, National Capital Region—before November
30. It’s expected that more organizations will be added to the parade list in coming
days.
