Open, rolling fields, whispering breezes, silent cannons and caissons: Manassas Battlefield, the first of many blood-soaked grounds of the Civil War, is an ideal place for reflecting or relaxing. Or both. Eight walking trails, from a half mile to more than ten miles, lead to the main points where the Union and Confederate armies twice clashed during the war. The terrain has changed little.
