Monday: Independent Film
The ten-day DC Independent Film Festival continues through the week with feature films, shorts, animation, and documentaries by local and international filmmakers. At night, music acts—from jazz to rock—take the stage for the companion music festival. Some of the screenings are free, and ticketed ones cost $7 to $10; a pack of ten is $50, and all-inclusive festival passes are also available.
Tuesday: Batter Up
The sun may be shining, but it’s not really spring until baseball season gets in full swing. Just ask Steve Goldman and Clay Davenport, who know the national pastime down to a science. Literally. The authors of Baseball Prospectus will stop by Politics and Prose to discuss their academic, statistical theories on our national pastime starting at 7.
Wednesday: Buy a Date
Looking for love in all the wrong places? Looking for a liberal to date? Then the Arlington Young Democrats charity date auction tonight at the Clarendon Grill might be just the spot. $5 gets you a raffle ticket and the chance to bid on a the date of your Democratic dreams. The group’s also asking that you bring an item of canned food. 7 PM.
Thursday: Go the Distance
Middle Distance Runner brings their catchy, shimmering Brit-rock-style pop to the stage at Iota—it'll be the perfect concert to kick off spring. 9 PM, $12.
